A bus driver for kindergarten children in Givat Ze’ev was arrested this morning (Friday) on suspicion of committing sexual offenses against children, after the mother of a 3-year-old girl from the bus filed a complaint with the police. According to her, her daughter told her that the driver exposed his penis to the children on several different occasions. “She wakes up at night crying, sweating and her heart is pounding,” said the mother. “I expect him to be investigated, tried and go to prison for decades.”
According to the owner of the shuttle company, he has known the driver, a resident of the Jerusalem area in his 60s, for 20 years and legally he could not have done anything himself. He added that “the police will do their job and things will be clarified as soon as possible.”
The Givat Ze’ev local council responded: “Upon receipt of the notification regarding the complaint yesterday afternoon, an order was issued to the transportation company to stop the work of the driver and attendant of the transportation immediately. At the same time, treatment by the welfare and psychological service department began.”
The council wrote to the parents that “the head of the council and the Ministry of Education are involved and aware of the issue and a directive has been given to the departments of education, welfare and the psychological service to give families and children care, support and a comprehensive service in all matters”.
