Kozhikode | PK Kunhalikutty threatened to resign at the Muslim League meeting. Dramatic scenes took place in the state working committee of the Muslim League in Ernakulam. Kunhalikutty threatened to resign when there was severe criticism in the party meeting. Kunhalikutty was completely isolated in the meeting. PK Bashir started the criticism. Then KS Hamza came to the scene and severely criticized him.

PK Basheer pointed out that the allegations leveled against Kunhalikutty and Chandrika manager Sameer in connection with Chandrika daily were true. Where does the money coming to Chandrika go? He also criticized that this system has been going on for years, including in the party. Then the Secretary KS Hamza came forward against Kunhalikutty in very harsh language. There was even an accusation that PK Kunhalikutty is now in the ruling party or in the opposition. The criticism pointed to KT Jalil’s remark that even PK Kunhalikutty would not stand with the allegations leveled by the UDF in the Assembly. KS Hamza alleged that Kunhalikutty remained silent when KT Jalil made such criticism.

PK Kunhalikutty threatened that he was willing to resign when the criticism was severe, including that Kunhalikutty did not even once criticize the government or Pinarayi during their district tour. Meanwhile, Kunhalikutty was trying to interrupt the speech when KS Hamza was criticizing him. But when he announced his resignation, it was noticeable that no one came forward to support him. Only third tier leaders like Abdurrahman Randathani supported him. None of the high power committee leaders including Sadiqali Thangal came forward in his favor. The simmering issues in the party have now prompted the leaders to come forward with a strong stand against Kunhalikutty.
