Toronto: Racial violence against a Sikh student in Canada. The incident took place in the province of British Columbia, Canada. A group of people pulled off 21-year-old Gagandeep Singh’s turban, tied his hair and dragged him along the pavement.

Councilor Mohini Singh said that the incident happened around 10.30 pm on Friday. After learning about the incident, the councilor visited Gagandeep Singh.

Gagan was on his way home after buying groceries when the attack took place. Gagan was attacked by 12-15 youths in the bus. Young people threw wigs at Gagan. The counselor stated that Gagandeep told the youths not to disturb him and if they continued to disturb him, he would call the police.

After that, Gagandeep got off the bus. A young boy who was a nuisance got off the bus with Gagandeep. After waiting for the bus to leave, they gang attacked Gagandeep. Mohini Singh said, “They hit me on the face, ribs, arms and legs, pulled the turban and pulled my hair.”

Finally, the group returned with the turban, leaving the conscious young man on the roadside snowbank. The youth lost consciousness and informed his friends and the police.

The police said that this is a serious incident and that such an attack in this city is being taken seriously. The police added that this crime will be investigated on priority basis.
