A six-year-old boy was arrested by airport security after toy guns were found in his backpack in the mirror test.
A family on their way to a summer vacation in Oaxaca, Mexico, arrived at Mexico City International Airport. After checking in and sending the luggage, the parents and their six-year-old son proceeded to the security checkpoint, where they moved their trolley luggage and backpacks to the checkpoint.

Suddenly, one of the security guards noticed that in one of the family’s files, there were “suspicious objects”. The crews detained the parent couple and the child and asked to conduct a search of the luggage they had brought with them. To the surprise of the security guards, the six-year-old’s bag had two pistols – but made of plastic.
The boy carried his two favorite plastic pistols in a “Super Mario” backpack for the family outing. The case was documented and published on social media TikTok, under the headline “A six-year-old boy is suspected of carrying a weapon at the airport! Does that seem serious to you?”. The video shows the little boy standing aside and looking at the security guards who are taking his toy guns on their mobile device.
The boy was detained by airport authorities for carrying “suspicious objects” and then, the security staff conducted an inspection of his parents’ files as well. The poor boy was released from custody about 20 minutes before the flight to Oaxaca took off and the plane crew was waiting for them.
The father explained that the son was allowed to take five toys with him for a walk, which he packed in his backpack at the last minute. Along with some teddy bears, he also chose the plastic pistols.
