As LETA observed, after landing, the plane stopped on the side of the Tallinn highway a few hundred meters behind the Ādaži viaduct on the Riga side.

Vincevs confirmed to the LETA agency that the general aviation aircraft made an emergency landing near Ādaži, landing on the highway. There were two people on the plane, but none of them were hurt.

The video taken by the eyewitness shows that the plane lands on the Tallinn highway, flying from the Riga side. As it lands, the plane merges into the flow of cars, but slightly catches a traffic sign in the middle of the road with its left wing, which changes the plane’s trajectory, causing it to enter the opposite lane, successfully avoiding a collision with cars.

The CAA representative also noted that the road infrastructure was affected during the landing. The incident will be investigated by officials of the Transport Accident and Incident Investigation Bureau who went to the scene.

According to preliminary information available to the CAA, the aircraft may have experienced engine problems.

On the other hand, the preliminary information at the disposal of the State Police shows that the plane made a forced landing due to technical problems that occurred in the wing part of the plane.

State police press representative Rūta Strautniece told LETA agency that no person was physically injured in the incident that happened around 9 p.m.

The LETA agency observed that after the incident, the traffic was slowed down at the scene.

From the data of the Latvian Aircraft Register and the information available on the Internet, it can be seen that the plane involved in the incident is “Tecnam P2008 JC”, manufactured in 2018. This two-seater has a single engine with about 100 horsepower.
