Jair Renan, son of former President Jair Bolsonaro, was the target of an operation by the Civil Police of the Federal District related to a group suspected of fraud, document forgery, tax evasion and money laundering.
Investigators executed two search warrants at Renan’s homes, one in Balneário Camboriú (SC), where he resides, and another in Brasilia.
The Civil Police reported that in the Federal District “the orders were carried out in Águas Claras and in the Southwest, against the main suspect and two accomplices.”
One of the “accomplices” would be Jair Renan, according to the investigations. A cell phone, a hard drive and some bills were seized at the addresses linked to the ex-president’s son.
The police arrested the mentor of the scheme and tried to capture a second person involved, whose whereabouts were unknown until the end of Thursday afternoon (24), who already had an arrest warrant.
According to the troops, this second person was also being sought for a homicide in the capital.
Jair Renan’s defense declared that the young man has been “surprised” by the operation, but is “absolutely calm about what is happening.”
