Our forces thwarted a stabbing attack in Jerusalem. The terrorist who planned to carry out a stabbing attack in the Old City area, aroused the suspicion of the police and fled from them but was eventually caught at the Iron Gate, near the entrance to the Temple Mount.
During his escape, the terrorist threw a bag with a knife inside. His interrogation revealed that he intended to carry out an attack.
The Jerusalem District Commander was Doron Turgeman Referring to the activity, he said: “This is another example of the determination of the Jerusalem District Police in the ongoing fight against terrorism. Vigilance of police officers, striving for contact and a combination of technological means – are what led to the arrest of the suspect who after that it became clear in his interrogation that he planned to carry out an attack. In addition to countering terrorism through our accurate intelligence and that of the security bodies working with us, as was the case recently including at the beginning of the week during Jerusalem Day, there is no substitute for the determined activity of our police officers who are constantly working to thwart and handle any suspicion and security threat.
