Low-lying areas are expected to flood in places and several small rivers are expected to burst their banks.

On October 7-8 of last year, the wind speed in gusts in the center of Riga reached 24 meters per second, in Daugavgrīva and other places on the coast there were gusts up to 29 meters per second. At that time, rescuers received a record number of calls and went on 1,095 trips to eliminate the effects of the storm. Similar or even greater damage is possible this time.

Wind will break and uproot many trees, rain and storm will cause great damage to gardens and fields. Wind and waves will damage beach infrastructure, falling trees will block roads and railways in some places, road washouts and breaks due to floods are also possible.

It is expected that due to the approaching storm and heavy rains, the Latvian Center for Environment, Geology and Meteorology will issue a red – highest level – warning.
