“A strike? We absolutely reject it”

by time news

A little more than a week after the strike threat letter from the women’s basketball players organization, today (Wednesday) came the reaction of the director.

As a reminder, in the letter sent by the chairman of the organization, Oded Shashua, it is required, among other things: “Cancellation of fines and grants in all of the aforementioned and related to foreign players, a return to the registration of up to seven foreigners per team per season, the registration of up to four foreigners as defined in the game form and the obligation to participate a local player in every “A given time,” Shashua demanded, and also addressed the issue of grants: the establishment of a think tank regarding the competition of teams that sign Israelis to long-term contracts, end-of-season grants for the three teams that will participate the most Israelis, and grants for the team that showed an increase in the average audience for the game.

He also added as part of the threat: “In the absence of substantive agreements and negotiations by the time of the last round of the second round of the 22/23 game season, April 2, all the basketball players in Israel, the Premier League and the National League, will go on a general strike and there will be no games until the end Game season”.

Now, in the response that came from the director and the basketball union, the claims were rejected outright: “Since both parties are under an agreement, and the agreement is fulfilled verbatim by the director, your threat regarding a strike is unacceptable, cannot be accepted, and is absolutely rejected.”

In addition, it is written: “Given that the threat of the strike is hereby removed from the agenda, the management will sit down and discuss with you with interest matters concerning the progress and proper maturation of Israeli players, to bring them to the level of the Premier League. As mentioned, the management of the league sees great importance in an Israeli identity for the league.”
