(Montreal) The passenger of a vehicle that swerved on Friday evening in the borough of Mercier – Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, in Montreal, succumbed to his injuries. The victim is 18 years old.

The 19-year-old driver of the vehicle was also taken to hospital, but his injuries are not life-threatening.
Several calls were made to 911 Friday evening, around 9:40 p.m., to indicate that a vehicle struck a tree on Saint-Donat Street, near Vincent-Piette Street. It was immediately uncertain why the driver had lost control of his vehicle while traveling northbound on Saint-Donat Street.
Firefighters from the Montreal Fire Department were called in to help extricate the two occupants from the vehicle.
“The scene was protected to allow collision investigation investigators to analyze it and better understand the causes and circumstances surrounding this collision,” said Constable Véronique Comtois, spokesperson for the Montreal Police Department. the City of Montreal (SPVM).
“Currently, the speed as well as the weather conditions are hypotheses which are studied”, she specified.
