During an operation by fighters from the Border Police’s undercover unit, together with IDF forces, a wanted man was arrested last night (Sunday) in Nablus and a Carlo weapon was seized at his home. A security source said his arrest was necessary before a possible shooting attack was carried out.

The arrest ended smoothly but as he left the city, the force encountered resistance and an exchange of fire was opened between the parties, with no casualties to our forces. One of the rioters was hit by the shooting.

“When the CBS forces finished the operation and left the scene, explosives were thrown at close range by rioters who endangered the lives of the forces,” a Border Police spokeswoman said. “The CBS forces responded by firing at the terrorists and hit one of the terrorists who was wounded and evacuated by the Red Crescent.”

Early in the morning, the Palestinians announced that the terrorist, Jamil al-Kiel, had been killed. According to the fighters present at the incident, El Kiel was armed. After the publication of his identity, it became clear that he was known to the defense establishment and in the past even participated in a shooting attack.

Tariq Azdin, a spokesman for the Islamic Jihad movement in Judea and Samaria, said that “the resistance will continue to respond to the occupation invasions of West Bank cities at all costs. Determination and heroism can stop the Zionists and deter the occupation. We mourn the martyr of Palestine, the hero of Nablus, Jamil Kiel. “His blood was not shed in vain, it will be a sign of continued opposition to Zionist terrorism.”
