A three-year-old boy at the wheel of a golf cart ran over another seven-year-old, who died of his injuries at a hospital in southwest Florida, police sources reported Tuesday.
The Florida Highway Patrol (FPH) confirmed on Tuesday the fatal accident that occurred Monday afternoon on private property, which is still under investigation. The hit-and-run victim was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, while the youngest child was unharmed.
Given the increase in accidents with golf carts driven by minors, the Florida Congress approved in the last legislature a law that will take effect on October 1 and will force minors under 18 to obtain a special permit to be able to drive those vehicles. Minors under 15 years of age must also have authorization from their parents.
