A total of 13 houses and agricultural buildings were destroyed in today’s fires in Haskovsko. This was announced by the press center of the Regional Administration after an extraordinary emergency meeting of the Regional Governor Mehmed Ataman with the Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Dimitar Kangaldzhiev and the Director of the Main Directorate “Fire Safety and Protection of the Population” Alexander Jartov.

As of this afternoon, a partial state of emergency is in effect in the municipalities of Topolovgrad and Ivaylovgrad due to outbreaks that occurred in conditions of strong wind, high temperatures and difficult terrain.

To date, three houses and outbuildings have burned down in the Topolovgrad village of Srem. 6 cars were also affected. The fire was also stopped in the village and there were no casualties. 25 people were evacuated. Heavy equipment and a helicopter are traveling to the municipality of Topolovgrad and will be involved in field work. If necessary, a second firefighting helicopter will be provided.

In the Ivaylovgrad village of Gornoseltsi, 10 houses were burned. No one was injured, but the situation remains serious. Pine forest and dry grasses continue to burn. Firefighters continue extinguishing in all directions. Fortunately, the wind died down and the spread of the fire to the neighboring villages of Pokrovan and Cherni rid has been stopped, said the mayor of Ivaylovgrad, Diana Ovcharova, who is on the ground. According to her, two or three of the destroyed properties were habitable, and shelter was provided for their residents.

A fire also broke out this afternoon in the land of Studena village in Svilengrad and Planinovo in Topolovgrad. The fire is in a mixed forest, we have sent our voluntary municipal formation to help the firefighters. We have no data on danger for populated areas, said the mayor of Svilengrad, Anastas Karchev.

“In the coming weeks, high temperatures will be a prerequisite for fires, so all citizens should be as cautious as possible and not underestimate the situations that have arisen. In the past week, 25 acts of caused fires were drawn up in the territory of Haskovo region. The authorities will be uncompromising towards violators and will monitor strict compliance with the order issued by the regional governor of the Haskovo region, said the Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Dimitar Kangaljiev, as quoted by the press center.

According to the order, the cultivation of pastures and the baling of straw and hay are prohibited after 11:00 a.m. until the first of September.

Later that evening, Kangaldzhiev and Zhartov met on the spot with the situation in Topolovgradsko. The situation throughout the country is calming down, Zhartov assured. Kangaldzhiev called for responsibility on the part of society to comply with safety measures this season, writes BTA.
