A training workshop on the mechanism of monitoring via social media during the electoral process

The High National Elections Commission, in cooperation with the International Institute for Democracy and Elections (IDEA), launched a training workshop entitled “Training the Commission’s social media monitoring team.”.

The workshop, held at the Commission’s Training and Development Center, aims to “train employees on the monitoring mechanism via social media during the electoral process.”

“The workshop is scheduled to include several training sessions covering topics such as the rights and duties of candidates during election campaigns, social media and elections, rules for monitoring social media during elections, and tools for checking misleading content.”

This three-day workshop, from September 30 to October 2, 2024, comes within the framework of efforts to enhance democracy and transparency in the election process, and reflects the commitment of the High National Elections Commission to provide a safe and reliable environment for citizens to participate in the electoral process.

The workshop also reflects “the Commission’s commitment to transforming into a secure digital society that protects the electoral process from cyber threats and enhances confidence in its integrity and transparency.”

The workshop was attended by the Director of the Awareness and Communication Department at the Commission, Khaled Al-Musa, the Head of the Communications Department, Abdul Raouf Shanab, the head of the Media Monitoring Unit, Heba Abu Shahma, and the representative of the International Organization for Democracy and Amna Elections.
