“Ségolène Royal shows audacity and courage. On Saturday, Jean-Luc Mélenchon said he “approved” the proposal of the former presidential candidate of 2007 to lead a list of union of the left in the next European elections. Jean-Luc Mélenchon also returned to the controversial invitation of the rapper Médine to the movement’s summer universities, after the artist published a message on X (ex-Twitter) described as anti-Semitic. “If he was racist and anti-Semitic, we wouldn’t have invited him. (…) Médine is not racist”, swept the leader of the Insoumis, on the same line as the members of the party in recent days. A debate between the rapper and Mathilde Panot, president of the LFI group in the National Assembly, is also scheduled for this Saturday at the end of the afternoon.
The former presidential candidate, who says he “accepted the apologies” that Medina presented following the tweet, believes that this controversy has overshadowed the “real subject” of this back to school: “Our back-to-school subject this n t is not Medina, but these are the social conditions of this new school year. The former deputy notably referred to the explosion in the price of school supplies. “If I were the President of the Republic, (…) the start of the school year is free school supplies”, he defended, while this proposal has returned to the debate in recent weeks.
Finally, Jean-Luc Mélenchon has neither confirmed nor denied the presence of his party at the meeting organized by Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday August 30 with all the leaders of the political parties represented in Parliament. “It is the parliamentary group that will decide,” he replied.
