A visual alphabet of industry, work and technology is the great exhibition that the MAST of the Emilian capital offers until 28 August
Is called corporate philantropy and it is the application of industrial and business models at the service of the community, with an organization that gives effectiveness, strength and duration to the initiatives thus promoted. A modern and far-sighted way of doing charity and philanthropywhich still has to make room for itself in the suffocating Italian bureaucracy, but of which Isabella Seragnoli is an important example.
Among the initiatives that the Emilian entrepreneur and her family have implemented in favor of citizenship, in addition to those in the field of medicine, research and assistance to the terminally ill, there is a shining example of an activity dedicated to art, the MAST Foundation of Bologna.
Since the early 2000s, the Foundation has specialized in the field of photography of industry and work, starting from the Coesia collection, which collected films, negatives on glass and film, photographs, albums, catalogs, which had been produced in the factories of the Seragnoli family since the early twentieth century. Acquiring images from auction houses, individuals, art galleries, photographers and artists around the world, he created a unique collection in the worldthat matters more than 6000 images and videos of renowned artists and masters of the lens, as well as a large selection of photo albums by unknown authors.

Moreover in 2013 the MAST was opened real, a multifunctional center and exhibition space which houses the permanent collection and offers a prestigious biennial and numerous temporary exhibitions, as well as having, according to the corporate philantropy of which we said that it allows you to create affection and income, an auditorium, one academya nursery, a center wellnessa restaurant and a café and outside a “sculpture park” with monumental pieces by Arnaldo Pomodoro, Anish Kapoor, Ólafur Elíasson, and Mark Di Suvero.

Until next 28 August this Manufactory of Arts, Experimentation and Technology, of which Seragnoli is president, hosts the first major exhibition of works selected from the Foundation’s collection, titled A visual alphabet of industry, work and technology. It is about over 500 images among photographs, albums, videos of 200 great Italian and international photographers and anonymous artists. A magnificent and unique exhibition in the world, not exclusively dedicated to industrial and technological photography enthusiasts, but rather capable of involving everyoneboth for the absolute quality of the works (listing the artists on display is impressive: from Agosti to Weston, from Avedon to Struth, from Berengo Gardin to Steinert, from Salgado to Doisneau, from Bourke White to Mulas, from Cartier Bresson to Giacomelli, from Jodice to Ray, from Ghirri to Lessing, from McCullin to Modotti, to name but a few), both for theintensity of narrative discourses that characterize them, always involving the viewer, even when they are presented as pure documentation or as a direct aesthetic representation.

On the walls of the three MAST exhibition spaces – the PhotoGallery, the Foyer and Level 0 – not only a vast panorama of extraordinary imagesbut above all it is admired a conceptual system divided into 53 chapterswhich illustrates themes that all of us find ourselves under our eyes every day, from A to Abandoned e Architecture reaches up to the W of Waste, Water, Wealth, but that the artists “see” in a different way: profound, narrative, enchanting, enigmatic, cutting. severe, even devious and deceitful.
