A week after the Surat court verdict; Rahul did not want to appeal in haste

by time news

New Delhi ∙ Surat Magistrate’s Court has not filed an appeal in the Sessions Court even after a week, considering Rahul Gandhi’s advice not to rush. Until a few days ago, Rahul informed the leadership that there is no need to file an appeal demanding that the order of punishment for 2 years be stayed or canceled and that he is ready to go to jail.

In the discussions, Rahul took a position that he does not need the 30-day delay granted by the court to file an appeal and can go straight to jail. It was made clear that predecessors Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi had gone to jail and would not hesitate to take the same route.

Although the leadership reckoned that such a move would help create positive sentiment across the country, it decided not to take a drastic approach for the time being. Party sources told ‘Manorama’ that Rahul has agreed to appeal considering the leadership’s decision.

At the same time, Rahul has suggested that there is no need to rush to file an appeal, judging that the protest and the unity of the opposition following the disqualification process will be a political setback for the central government. The aim is to strengthen opposition unity through united protests. Party sources said that with Rahul’s approval, albeit belatedly, they are moving ahead with the process of filing an appeal.

‘My house, yours too’

The Congress campaign on social media offered a house to Rahul Gandhi, who was instructed by the Lok Sabha housing department to vacate his official residence. Videos of activists inviting Rahul to stay in their own house with the slogan ‘My house, yours too’ are being circulated widely.

Shiv Sena: Rahul has solved the problem

Rahul resolves issues with Shiv Sena on Savarkar issue Rahul met Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction) MP: Sanjay Raut who reached Parliament yesterday. The Shiv Sena had expressed resentment over Rahul insulting Savarkar. Raut responded that he met Sonia and Rahul and resolved all the issues.

Rahul is coming to Parliament for the first time after the Lok Sabha Secretariat’s order disqualifying him from the post of MP. Discussions were held with Sonia Gandhi and KC Venugopal at the Congress office in Parliament.

19 opposition parties held a meeting under the leadership of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge yesterday. Various parties have suggested that the current unity should be extended outside the parliament.
