The authorities of St. Petersburg have decided to introduce restrictive measures to combat the spread of coronavirus for a period of one week. A partial lockdown is introduced from October 30 to November 7, the press service of the St. Petersburg mayor’s office reported on Saturday, October 23.

Catering and retail operations will be restricted, with the exception of essential goods and entertainment and leisure facilities, but museums and theaters will not close. Restaurants and bars are allowed to sell takeaway, in addition, restrictions will not apply to those establishments that work at train stations.

Government agencies will not provide a number of services, and sports and public events are prohibited. Pharmacies and hairdressing salons will be able to continue working.

Lockdown in Moscow

Earlier, on October 21, the Moscow mayor declared a non-working period from October 28 to November 7. In the capital of Russia, the work of enterprises is suspended, including in the field of trade and services, mass events are prohibited, and vacations are announced in schools.

Before that, on October 20, at a meeting of the government of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin supported the idea of ​​introducing non-working days from October 30 to November 7, with the preservation of wages. Regions with the most difficult epidemiological situation may introduce non-working days as early as October 23. Non-working days can be extended.
