In Ain, 70 km east of Lyon, nearly 3,000 partygoers gathered on Friday evening for a wild rave party. Friday evening, “many vehicles gathered on land in the town of Lompnas”, to participate “in an undeclared rave party type event”, indicated the prefecture in a press release, estimating the number of participants at “approximately 3,000” Saturday morning. Gendarmes were sent to the scene.

The prefect of Ain Chantal Mauchet gave a series of orders in order to “preserve as best as possible the tranquility of the inhabitants of the commune, the health security of festival-goers as well as the issues relating to environmental risks”, with in particular a device of reinforced surveillance of the gendarmerie on the road network of the department and near the place of the rave, in order to “carry out checks and verbalizations if necessary”.
Firefighters as well as civil security associations were also dispatched to the site “in order to guarantee the safety of festival-goers as well as the security of the site”. The mayor of the commune and the landowners of the land have filed a complaint for illegal occupation with the gendarmerie services, she added.
