A woman from Girona, named president of the state organization of egg producers

Dolors Callísborn in Banyoleshas been appointed president of ASEPRHU, the Spanish Association of Egg Producers, during the general assembly of the entity that was held this week in Madrid. The Catalan businesswoman takes over from Juan Gigante, who has held the position for the last four years.

Callís will represent egg producers before the Spanish administration at a key stage for the laying poultry sector, due to the large number of challenges that are presented to it currently and in the near future. One of them is the modification of the regulatory framework that applies to the egg sector, especially in the area of ​​animal welfare, which will force companies to make a great effort to adapt to the elimination of the breeding system in cages, as well as changes in handling and transport, among others.

Dolors Callís has developed his entire professional career in the poultry sector and is currently part of the management team of the Girona family companies Liderou and Miquel Avícola. She is also vice-president and member of the board of INPROVO (Organización Interprofesional del Huevo y sus Productos) and of the Instituto de Estudios del Huevo, where she has held various positions in recent years.

“The poultry sector requires a lot of dedication. In my case, I am the fourth generation of poultry farmers, and I can say that it is a completely vocational profession, where you feel passion for what you do. I am fully convinced that associations are essential to drive change and defend the interests of a sector that produces one of the best foods such as the egg. As president of ASEPHRU, I have the will to work seeking the maximum consensus between the institutions and the illusion of consolidating a team that represents broadly our sector”, relates Callís.
