Jeddah ∙ The head of the Human Rights Commission in Saudi Arabia is a woman. Commission President Dr. Hala bint Maseed bin Mohammed Al Tuwaijiri was appointed by Ruler King Salman,

The current president Dr. Awad Al Awad was removed from his post and appointed as a Royal Court Counselor. Dr. Hala Al Tuwaijiri has been holding the post of Secretary General of the Family Affairs Council since June 2017. She chairs the Women’s Empowerment Team at the G-20. Also serving as Administrative Advisor in the Ministry of Human Resource and Social Development from April 2021.

Earlier, he has held the posts of Vice-Dean of King Saud University Arts College, Vice-Dean and Lecturer of English and Literature Department in the same college. Last year, the country was honored with the King Abdulaziz Medal. He holds bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees in English literature from King Saud University. She teaches Modern English Literature and Literary Criticism and is currently Assistant Professor of English Literature at the University.
