On May 16 of this year, a woman born in 1949 was traveling by bus from Kauguru Market to Kauguru Park in Jūrmala. An unknown younger woman was sitting across from her on the bus.

The woman born in 1949 on Telsu Street got off the bus and went to her place of residence, the mentioned stranger also got off the bus and followed her. The stranger attacked her from behind with a knife. When the victim fell, the assailant tried to stab her in the chest as well.

The woman repelled this stabbing attempt, after which the criminal left the scene, leaving the victim alone.

The injured woman went to her place of residence, where she called medics, who took the woman to a medical facility with stab wounds.

Video surveillance cameras were located at the scene of the crime, and the Jūrmala municipal police promptly provided the Jūrmala State Police station with a video recording of the crime.

In the morning of the same day, a theft took place from an apartment in Jūrmala, Kauguris, that is, a mobile phone was stolen. While accepting the application from the owner of the stolen apartment, a woman in a strong state of alcohol was walking nearby.

The owner of the stolen apartment immediately recognized that this drunk woman was the thief of his apartment. In addition, the officials of the Jūrmala precinct, after seeing the video, recognized him as the person who had hit the woman a few hours earlier on the same day.

The law enforcement officers immediately arrested the alleged female perpetrator and took her to the police station. She was found to have a strong alcohol intoxication of about four parts per million.

The detainee was born in 1980 and had previously been tried once for theft.

On August 20, the criminal case was handed over to the prosecutor’s office for prosecution.
