A world record like this; A bird that amazed people as ‘miracle, wonder’

by time news

Generally we have seen many accomplished people and legends. A bird has also broken the record in this series.

Yes, that bird is the Bar-tailed Godwit.

The body structure of the godwit bird resembles that of a fighter jet. Its wing is very sharp. These birds are in arctic region during summer. The fish there live on worms. The body structure of this bird is adapted for long distance flight where most of its body is fat. These birds die when they land in the water, as their feet have no webbing, so there is no way to get off. So if it falls or lands on the surface of the sea due to fatigue or bad weather, it is seen as the last minute of the flight.

A record breaking bird

A bar-tailed godwit has flown 8,435 miles (13,500 km) non-stop from Alaska to Tasmania, Australia. A single bird’s longest uninterrupted migration broke all previous records for migration.

It has been tracked by satellite tag for 11 days of this bird. According to Guinness World Records, a bar-tailed godwit (Limosa lapponica), known by the tag number “234684”, broke the record by flying 13,560 kilometers (8,435 miles) from Alaska to the Australian state of Tasmania without stopping for food or rest.

Earlier in 2007, a female bird of the same species had set a record by flying a distance of 11,680 kilometers non-stop.

That record was broken. People who know this, are looking in amazement as if it is still a bird.

(Come on, if you go for a walk for half an hour in the morning, how much pain will you do…Yappappa..)
