Launched with great passion a year ago by the Minister of Justice Éric Dupond-Moretti, the detention center Fleury-Mérogis (Essonne), which is a stone’s throw from the largest prison in Europe, has lost its charm. Large enough to accommodate 406 prisoners, it is occupied today by only 85 to 90 people. The fault lies in poor workmanship which makes many floors ineffective.
“Inside, terrible conditions,” complained a jailer to his family. The wall is swollen to dry and water does not work on other floors. Only the first level works. Conditions are unbearable, there have been many complaints. »
