A court on the island of Phuket in Thailand sentenced on Friday a year and a half in prison to Gal Shmuel Farjon, a former police officer from the Special Police Force, who was arrested last October on the island after two cartridges of forgotten rifle bullets were found in his draw. Farjon intends to appeal the sentence. In Israel, they expected that he will be deported from Thailand taking into account his condition, as reported on the Ynet website.

According to the report, the Israeli Embassy in Thailand and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs accompanied Farjon, and behind the scenes an effort was underway to release him. He was released to house arrest after he was arrested, but today the court decided to be harsh with him – and sentenced him to prison. 55 rifle bullets were found in his possession, and he apparently forgot that the bullets were found in the bag he brought with him to Thailand. To this day he has been under house arrest with a relative in the country.

The bullets were found in a draw at the Phuket airport terminal, he was taken to a police station. In his interrogation, he admitted that the pills were his, and said that they were accidentally forgotten in the bag.
