The young man committed suicide by injuring his neck and hand with a knife near the busy Kalur market in broad daylight. After hours of investigation, the deceased was identified as Christopher, a native of Thoppumpadi. Christopher was a resident of a private institution in Kalur. The young man committed suicide after attacking his friend who was with him.
The cause of the attack has not been ascertained. The police are investigating whether the act was done out of sudden provocation or under the influence of intoxication. The investigation team has decided to give a detailed statement as soon as the young man, who is undergoing treatment for a serious neck injury, recovers.
