A 21-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly creating a fake Instagram account in his ex-girlfriend’s name and using her father’s picture to send obscene messages to her relatives in revenge, police said on Sunday.
The accused has been identified as Vivek, a resident of South West Delhi’s Najafgarh area. The woman, in a complaint lodged at the Saib police station, alleged that an unknown person had created a fake Instagram profile using her husband’s and father’s pictures.
She also stated that the accused sent threatening and obscene messages to the complainant’s Instagram account and her relatives.
Regarding this, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Dwarka, M. Hasha Wadhan said: Investigation of the fake Instagram account revealed that the mobile number used to create the fake account was Vivek’s. During the investigation, it came to light that the complainant and the accused were in a relationship for the past four years.
For some reason, the relationship broke down. To take revenge and defame the complainant, he created a fake Instagram profile and sent obscene messages to the complainant and her relatives. Subsequently, the youth was arrested in this case. The officer said that a mobile phone used in the crime was also seized from him.
