A young Syrian man was “stabbed to death” in the Turkish city of Antalya, after three people stopped him, killed him, and fled.

“While racist attacks against Syrians continued, starting with an alleged sexual assault on a child in Kayseri, news of a murder came from Antalya, where a 17-year-old Syrian refugee worker named Ahmed al-Nayef, who was walking on a street in the Serik district, was stabbed to death,” the Turkish website imece gazetesi said.

The website reported that while Al-Naif was walking in one of the streets of the Kokiz area, he was stopped by three people who got off two motorcycles and stabbed him to death. The two suspects, R.A. and Y.Y., managed to escape the scene on two motorcycles, and the third suspect, E.A., was arrested.

It is noteworthy that acts of violence had erupted last Sunday, after the arrest of a Syrian on suspicion of harassing a minor. A group of people targeted shops and properties belonging to Syrians in the city of Kayseri, located in central Turkey. The attacks extended to other neighboring cities, including Istanbul, where the police strengthened security measures around the Syrian consulate.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, commenting on the attacks carried out by Turks on homes and property belonging to Syrians in the city of Kayseri: “Regardless of their identities, setting fire to streets and homes is unacceptable.”

It is worth noting that racist attacks against Syrians in Turkey have recently increased. According to the latest statistics issued by the Turkish Immigration Presidency, there are 3,115,844 Syrian refugees in Turkey. It is worth noting that most Syrian refugees residing in Turkey suffer from difficult living conditions, in addition to being exposed to racist behavior, which pushes them to illegally immigrate to Europe.
