Kochi: An investigation is underway for those who smuggled a dog worth Rs 15,000 in a helmet from a pet shop in Nettur, Ernakulam. The dog was smuggled by a young woman and a young man. The CCTV footage of this has been released. The duo then stole dog food from another pet shop in Vytyla. Panangad police started investigation.

The tragic incident took place on Saturday night at 7 o’clock. When they reached the pet shop, they used to take the puppy that was locked in a cage without the knowledge of the shop employee and put it in the helmet that he was holding. One of the three Swift puppies bought by the shop owner from Edappally native was taken away. Two puppies were brought to the shop to sell to a native of Alappuzha.

After the young woman and the young man left the shop, when the native of Alappuzha came to buy the puppy, it was noticed that one of them was missing. A search was conducted on the conclusion that he had run away, but the CCTV footage was checked after he was not found. That’s when the young woman and the young man came to know that the puppy had been stolen.

After checking other CCTV footage of the way they went, it was learned that they had stolen dog food from another shop in Vytila. With this, the search for them has intensified.
