The new overdue debt of citizens to the tax office rose in the first 5 months to 3.433 billion euros, while last year in the same period it was 2.813 billion euros (increase by 22%), according to the data published by AADE.

As regards the total “new maturity” added, excluding the 10 non-tax categories of MFKK):

In May, the new maturity reached 446 million euros, while last year in the corresponding month it was 307 million euros (an increase of 45.4%). In 5 months, the new maturity reached 3.053 billion euros, while in the same period last year it had reached 2.444 billion euros (an increase of 24.9%).

In May, total collections against new overdue debt (excluding 10 MFCs) reached 265 million euros, while in the corresponding period of 2023 they reached 171 million euros (an increase of 54.9%). In the 5th month, the total collections against new maturities (excluding 10 MFCs) reached 1,025 million euros, while in the same period in 2023 they had reached 762 million euros (an increase of 34.6%).

The actual overdue balance at the end of 2023 was €80.8 billion, with the remaining amounts classified as uncollectible.

At 83.87% the timely VAT payments in May

Also according to the AADE data, in May timely VAT payments reached 83.87%, while the percentage of timely tax payments for real estate was 77.15%. Finally, in relation to the corresponding period of 2023, the number of debtors shows a decrease of 5% (4,253,031 number of debtors in May 2024 against 4,471,762 in 2023).
