Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh Suspended for Entire Session Amidst Violence in Parliament

New Delhi – The ongoing stalemate between the government and the opposition in Parliament intensified yesterday as Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh was suspended for the entire session. Singh, who was involved in violence in front of the Rajya Sabha Chairman’s seat without being warned several times, faced disciplinary action from the parliamentary authorities.

The incident took place yesterday morning during the third day of the monsoon session. Opposition parties, including the Congress, gathered in front of the Gandhi statue to protest against the Manipur incident. The MPs then returned to both the houses and stirred up trouble there as well.

When Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla began question time, Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury insisted that the house should adjourn and discuss the Manipur issue. Birla responded by saying, “Of course we can have a discussion, but let the question time be over.”

The opposition party members found this response unacceptable, leading to a heated exchange. Army Minister Rajnath Singh tried to pacify the situation by expressing the government’s readiness to hold a discussion on the incidents in Manipur. However, the opposition MPs demanded that the Prime Minister address the issue, causing further chaos and confusion.

The Rajya Sabha session was not spared from the tensions either. Newly elected Trinamool MP Saket Gokhale was sworn in, and then the council president Jagdeep Dhankar started reading the notices that had come to him. Trinamool MP Derek O’Brien interrupted, accusing Dhankar of only reading notices issued by the ruling party and ignoring those given by the opposition MPs.

As the commotion continued, the Zero Hour was canceled, and disruptions persisted during question time. Aam Aadmi MP Sanjay Singh took a stand near the Speaker’s seat, raising his voice in protest. Despite repeated instructions to go back to his seat, Singh refused, leading to a resolution to suspend him from the session.

The opposition parties reacted furiously to Singh’s suspension, resulting in the adjournment of the House for the entire day. This suspension has caused an uproar among opposition parties, especially because the bill related to the New Delhi Powers Act is scheduled to be introduced in this session.

The stalemate between the ruling party and the opposition in Parliament has now reached new heights, with no signs of resolution. Home Minister Amit Shah, amidst loud opposition boos, offered to talk about the Manipur incident during the reconvening of the Lok Sabha. He urged the opposition parties to cooperate and hold a debate on the matter. Shah emphasized the importance of addressing this sensitive issue and ensuring that the facts are made known to the people of the country.

The ongoing clashes and disruptions in Parliament have raised concerns about the efficiency and effectiveness of the democratic process. Both the government and the opposition need to set their differences aside and find common ground to engage in a constructive discussion to address the pressing issues facing the nation.
