Aam Aadmi Party’s chief ministerial candidate Katvi fails – Dinamani

Aam Aadmi Party chief ministerial candidate Isudhan Gadvi lost by a margin of more than 18,000 votes in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly polls.

Contesting in Kampalia constituency, he was leading at the end of the 4th round. Constituency MLA and Congress candidate Vikram Madhav was in the second position and BJP candidate Mulubhai Pera was behind in the third position.

But, in the next rounds, the BJP candidate advanced and took the first place. AAP got second place. Congress was relegated to the third position.

BJP candidate Mulubhai Pera won by securing 74,029 votes. Aam Aadmi Party chief candidate Gadvi got 56,565 votes and Congress candidate Vikram Madhav got 42,299 votes.

Kambalia constituency has a significant Muslim constituency. Congress won last time using this vote bank. But this time Aam Aadmi Party also entered the fray and Congress lost its vote bank. Earlier, BJP had won this constituency in 2007 and 2012 assembly polls.

However, Congress won the 2014 mid-term polls and the 2017 polls.
