Aaron Taylor-Johnson Opens Up About Relationship with Sam Taylor-Johnson
Hollywood actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson rarely delves into the criticism surrounding his marriage to Sam Taylor-Johnson, who is 23 years his senior. However, in a recent interview with Esquire, the Bullet Train star shed some light on why he prefers to keep their relationship out of the limelight.
“I’m trying to be as honest as possible,” the 33-year-old actor said in the interview published on August 14. “I’ve probably talked to you more about my kids and Sam than I have with anybody. I’ve got really nothing to hide, and I’m secure in what we have. But I’m not going to unlock things that are actually precious to me.”
Aaron and Sam first met on the set of the 2009 film Nowhere Boy. At the time, Aaron was merely 18 years old, while Sam, who directed the film, was 42. Despite the significant age gap, the couple got engaged within a year, and shortly after, Sam became pregnant with their first daughter, Wylda Rae.
“I knew instantly that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with this person,” expressed Aaron, known for his role in Avengers. “I knew I wanted a family with her, I knew I wanted kids, and a month later she was pregnant with our first child,” he added in a 2019 interview with The Telegraph.
Since tying the knot in 2012, Aaron and Sam have often collaborated professionally. They worked together on the 2018 adaptation of A Million Little Pieces and the music video for R.E.M’s “Überlin” in 2011. However, Aaron dismissed the idea that their artistic endeavors and their romance are intertwined.
“I don’t think that’s accurate,” he clarified to Esquire. “Yeah, we worked—I met Sam as an actor and director. I think we’re really great at collaborating. But that’s not why I fell in love with her.”
Though the couple faces scrutiny due to their age difference, Aaron remains steadfast in his love for Sam and their strong bond. With a successful career in Hollywood and a happy family life, Aaron Taylor-Johnson seems content with finding the right balance between his personal and public spheres.
