Bengaluru: Mayali winger Ashique Kuruniyan, who left ISL club Bengaluru FC, will join ATK Mohan Bagan on a five-year contract. Ashiq had earlier made it clear on social media that he could not wait to wear ATK’s green and maroon jersey. In the evening, ATK officially released the contract with Aashiq. Aashiq will play for Kolkata in the No. 19 jersey.

Aashiq, who played for European club Vitoria at the junior level, said he was impressed with the infrastructure there and that similar facilities would be available in Kolkata. Playing in Kolkata is the dream of any footballer. Aashiq said that when he arrived in Kolkata a few weeks ago to play in the Asian Cup qualifiers, he got to know the excitement and support of the spectators there.
