“According to Sergeant Jason Donaldson, the woman was flying to a resort and claimed the animal was an emotional support animal, but airline staff were unconvinced,” revealed The Independant.
Officers were able to locate a microchip on the animal but attempts to reach the owner were unsuccessful.
Investigators learned the dog’s owner was told by airline officials the dog needed to be placed in a crate in order to fly.— Allegheny County PD (@AlleghenyCoPD) August 4, 2023
According to information from the Allegheny County police, airline personnel told him that the dog had to travel in a crate. She would then have abandoned him in a parking lot before taking the plane.
Animal abandonment charges could be filed against the owner of the dog.
