The 29-year-old athlete said on Friday that his preparation was hampered by an injury. “I was well prepared, but a few weeks ago I had pain in my hamstrings and in my knee,” she explained at a press conference, although she later assured that the injury was “no longer so serious”.
However, the women’s field remains very high, with the Ethiopian Yalemzerf Yehualaw who won last year in 2 hours 17 minutes and 26 seconds.
She will have to be wary in particular of the Kenyan Olympic champion Peres Jepchirchir or the Dutch Sifan Hassan, gold medalist in the 5,000m and 10,000m at the Tokyo Games in 2021 and who is making her marathon debut with a view to competing maybe the test at the Paris Olympics next year.
