The new convener of my Bangladesh Party (AB Party) has been elected as the joint convener of the party, Professor Dr. Major (retd) Abdul Wahab Minar.

He was elected convener of AB Party’s emergency National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, the party’s press wing said on Wednesday.

Wahab Miner is a leading psychiatrist of the country and a senior professor in a private medical college. The retired army officer is one of the founders of the party.

During the recent anti-discrimination student movement, he risked his life and visited the medical centers of Dhaka and supervised the treatment of injured students. Moreover, this man who runs to remote areas with food and medical aid in any disaster of the country is already known as a social and humanitarian figure.

AB Party convener, retired secretary and former chairman of revenue board AFM Solaiman Chowdhury resigned from the post of party convener on Tuesday night citing personal reasons. Soon after, rumors spread in the media that AFM Solaiman Chowdhury had been invited to an important post in the government.

In the wake of Solaiman Chowdhury’s resignation, an emergency meeting of the party’s National Executive Council was called that night to elect a new convener.

One of the founders of the party, Professor Dr. Major (retd) Abdul Wahab Minar was unanimously elected as the new convener of the party.

At this time, in the council meeting, the party’s joint convener, Advocate Golam Farooq, Alhaj Jahangir Kasem, M. Harunur Rashid, BM Nazmul Haque, Lieut. Colonel (Retd.) Didarul Alam, Lieut. Colonel (Retd.) Helal Uddin, Member Secretary Mojibur Rahman Manju, Joint Member Secretary Barrister Khan Azam, Barrister Zobair Ahmed Bhuiya, Advocate Abdullah Al Mamun Rana and other members were present.
