Saudi Arabia announced “a huge increase in the number of tourists who visited the Kingdom this year, compared to data for last year 2023.”
The Saudi Ministry of Tourism said, “The Kingdom received, during the period from January until the end of July of the current year 2024, 17.5 million tourists arriving from abroad, an estimated increase of 10% compared to the similar period of last year 2023.”
She explained, “This number represents an increase of 73% compared to the same period in 2019, the year in which Saudi Arabia launched its entertainment seasons, most notably the Riyadh Season.”
The Ministry indicated, “The number of tourists arriving from abroad for the purposes of entertainment and holidays during the first seven months of the current year amounted to 4.2 million tourists arriving from abroad, with a growth rate estimated at 25% compared to the similar period of last year 2023, and a growth rate estimated at 656% compared to the period.” Similar to 2019.
Last March, the head of the Entertainment Authority, Turki Al-Sheikh, announced, “The number of visitors to the Riyadh season has reached 20 million visitors, including 206,000 tourists, and this number is distributed over the months from October 2023 to March 2024.”
