Turkish police and gendarmerie conducted massive raids in 40 provinces of the country, during which almost 200 suspects of participation in the activities of the extremist group “Islamic State” and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party were detained.

As Day.Az reports, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic, Ali Erlikaya, announced this on his page in X.

“As a result of coordinated actions by employees of the Intelligence Department and the Counter-Terrorism Department of the General Directorate of Security, police forces carried out operations against the terrorist organization ISIS in six provinces of the country. 38 suspects were detained in the provinces of Adana, Aydin, Çorum, Gaziantep, Kayseri and Mersin. 38 suspects were detained. a large amount of digital materials and large sums in foreign currency and Turkish lira,” the minister noted.

Some of the detainees are suspected of providing assistance to PKK members who illegally crossed the Turkish border in 2022 to conduct activities in the country. Some of them were previously members of the PKK. There are court verdicts against a number of detainees, and the names of some are included in the system of wanted persons. In addition, a large number of unregistered firearms, explosives, grenades, documentation and PKK materials were seized during the raids.
