Moscow: Seals found dead on Caspian Sea coast in Russia. About 2,500 seals have gathered on the shore. 700 dead bodies were received first. After this, the number of dead has increased, according to the Ministry of Environment of Russia.

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) had earlier declared that sea dogs are the only mammals left in the Caspian Sea. Natural reasons are believed to be behind the sudden phenomenon. Also, there is a warning that dead seals may still pile up on the shore. Their samples have been collected and sent to the Caspian Environmental Center for testing. The cause of death will be known when the results are available.

The Caspian Sea is the largest lake in the world. The Caspian Sea shares borders with countries like Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Iran, and Turkmenistan. It is concluded that climate change and ecosystem imbalances have adversely affected the Caspian sea otters. After the incident, about 300,000 seals still remain in the Caspian Sea, officials said.
