After the wave of layoffs in high-tech, it seems that the industrial sector is also experiencing a wave of layoffs. The medical equipment company for laboratories and medical institutions, Tutnaur, will lay off about 30 of its employees in the coming days at its central activity site in Beit Shemesh. The company has about 800 employees worldwide, with half of them working in Israel.

“The efficiency measures being taken are part of the company’s development with the aim of increasing its competitiveness,” the company told Calcalist. “Recently the company received approval from the FDA for the marketing of a leading product and together with large investments in robotics and research and development, it will continue to lead in innovation in its field of activity.”

Despite the layoffs, the company, which is under the control of the Fortissimo Fund headed by businessman Yuval Cohen since 2017, emphasizes that they ended the year 2022 with record sales.

These layoffs do not come out of nowhere. Only in the last few days, the manufacturers’ association estimated that about 10% of the workforce in the industry, at least about 50 thousand workers, are exposed to the danger of layoffs if there are no extensive steps to improve the productivity and competitiveness of the industry.

As mentioned, only recently several factories in Israel announced widespread layoffs, the main announcement of which was the American Pratt & Whitney, which announced that by 2025 it will close the Lahabim Technology factory near Nahariya and lay off 900 of its employees.
