On the eve of the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center, Roman Vilfand, noted that heavy snowfall before the working week in Moscow could cause a traffic collapse. According to him, the snowfalls are caused by the movement of warm, moisture-saturated air masses from the south, east of the Mediterranean Sea, from Asia Minor and from the Middle East.

On Sunday, heavy snowfall, promised by forecasters, began in Moscow and the Moscow region. Precipitation took place in the east and north-east of the capital, as well as in the north-west in the area of ​​Skhodnya and Zelenograd.
