About 90 residents were evacuated from a house on Gaidar Street after a gas explosion

Residents of two entrances of a multi-storey building at 18 Gaidar Street in the Avtozavodsky District were evacuated after a gas explosion on the morning of October 2. In total, about 90 people were taken out of the building, said the head of Nizhny Novgorod, Yuri Shalabaev. Two were injured, they were hospitalized in the Burn Center of the Volga Medical University.

More than 50 evacuated residents are in a temporary accommodation center in a neighboring school, they are provided with the necessary assistance. The rest of the residents stayed with relatives and friends. Experts conduct a survey of the house, after which it will become clear whether residents will be able to return to their apartments.

“The main thing now is to provide the evacuated residents with everything they need and to provide assistance to the victims. Based on the results of the examination of the apartments and the assessment of the damage, the amount of material assistance for those people whose property has suffered will be determined, ”Yuri Shalabayev said.
