Chelsea Football Club owner Roman Abramovich has announced his decision to sell the club. His appeal was published on the Chelsea website.

“In the current situation, I have made the decision to sell the club, as I believe it is in the interests of the club, fans, employees, as well as sponsors and partners of the club,” Abramovich said.

In addition, Abramovich plans to send the proceeds from the sale of the club to a charity fund to help victims of the war in Ukraine.

“I have directed my team to set up a charitable foundation to which all net proceeds from the sale will be donated. The fund will be created for the benefit of all victims of the war in Ukraine. This includes providing critical funds to meet the immediate needs of victims, as well as supporting long-term recovery efforts,” he said.

Abramovich bought Chelsea in 2003 for £140m. Before him, the London club had not won either the national championship or European competition for a long time. With the arrival of Abramovich, Chelsea became one of the giants of world football: he several times became the champion of the Europa League and the Champions League, and this month won the Club World Cup. The club is ranked third in the UK Premier League.
