Watan Al-Youm: An interview conducted by Al-Arabiya channel witnessed the withdrawal of Palestinian presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh after a mutual attack and the channel’s broadcaster’s insistence on asking Abu Rudeineh about a statement attributed to him criticizing the Hamas movement.
Abu Rudeina said before his withdrawal that everyone who is currently asking these questions is not serving the Palestinian cause, adding, “This is not the battle of Fatah and Hamas, but rather the battle of the Palestinian people with the occupation, the American administration and its agents in the region who want to spread gossip and rumors and incite against the ‘Palestinian leadership’.”
He also asked the channel’s broadcaster not to repeat “skewed propaganda” that attempts to harm Palestinian national unity, which prompted the broadcaster to say that this was made by him in an interview on the “Al-Hurra Channel” and that he has the right to use these statements.
Abu Rudeina returned to saying: “If you are a spokesman for Al-Hurra Channel, which represents the occupation army and the agents of Israel, then this speech is not permissible from you or from Al-Arabiya,” before withdrawing from the interview amid the broadcaster’s insistence on mentioning his previous statements and asking the guest: “If the channel is an agent, why?” Would you go out with her for an interview?
Abu Rudeina had said in previous statements to the American Al-Hurra TV channel, “The authority is ready to assume its responsibilities in the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem.”
In response to the channel’s broadcaster’s question about whether this was “in isolation from the Hamas movement,” Abu Rudeina said: “We have nothing to do with what is happening between Hamas and Israel, and Hamas has a “coup” that has departed from Palestinian legitimacy.”
He added: “We do not want to enter into secondary battles now. What is required now is to lift the aggression, then hold elections, and whoever succeeds in these elections will rule Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem.”
The Saudi academic, Ahmed bin Rashid, commented on Abu Rudeineh’s withdrawal from the Al Arabiya meeting, saying: “Al Arabiya heard a statement attributed to the spokesman for the authority in Ramallah, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, in which he criticized Hamas, so she flew to him to ask him for more, in the hope that he would heal her resentment of the movement, but The man realized that she only wanted to add fuel to the fire and split the Palestinian ranks in the service of the enemy, so he attacked her and her announcer forcefully, then withdrew from the interview.
