Victory by 2-0 in the third round of Liga 2
At the Fontelo Stadium, Académico de Viseu hosted and defeated FC Porto’s B team by 2-0. Yuri Araújo (24′) and Paulinho (45+1) scored the goals of the match.
The first half began with a warning from the visitors. Six minutes in, Rodrigo Mora burst down the left side, weaving past three opponents and finding Gonçalo Sousa, who misplayed the ball. From that point on, Académico gained momentum in the match.
André Clóvis posed a threat first with a dangerous header (16′) and, at 24 minutes, the moment of the game arrived. Following a poor pass from goalkeeper Diogo Fernandes, Académico regained possession, and Clóvis assisted Yuri Araújo for a powerful shot with his left foot from outside the box, which found the back of the net for the dragões. The home team continued to dominate and, just before halftime, doubled their advantage. Paulinho took advantage of the Porto defense’s passivity to, after a cross from Ott, appear at the far post and shoot for the second goal of the viriatos in the match, at 45+1′.
The second half started off evenly, but there were no chances in the first 20 minutes. Then, FC Porto B had two clear opportunities to reduce the deficit. First, a header from Rodrigo Mora (66′) grazed the post of the Viseu goal. Then, Anhá Candé (72′), face to face with goalkeeper Domen Gril, allowed the Slovenian to make the save.
Until the end, there was space for a disallowed goal by Famana Quizera at 84 minutes for offside, and a missed penalty by Gabriel Brás (90+6), after a great save from Gril, who was named man of the match.
Thus, Académico de Viseu added their second victory in Liga 2 and jumped to first place temporarily, with seven points. FC Porto B, meanwhile, lost for the first time this season and remains with two points.
