The Académico de Viseu defeated FC Porto B by 2-0, in a match of the third round of the 2nd Portuguese League held at the Estádio do Fontelo, conditionally taking the lead in the championship.
Yuri Araújo scored for Académico at the 24th minute with a fantastic goal, and Paulinho made it 2-0 just before the 45th minute, while FC Porto B squandered a penalty in the last moments of the match.
In the first 15 minutes, there was a greater offensive inclination from the Porto players, with more initiative in the game, to which the Beira players tried to respond with quick counterattacks, but it was FC Porto B that created the first goal opportunity, with Gonçalo Sousa shooting wide after an individual play by Rodrigo Mora.
Mota, at the 21st minute, shot strongly and accurately, forcing Gril to make a great save.
Rui Ferreira’s team balanced the game and reached the goal through Yuri Araújo, who, at the 24th minute, shot first time from more than 30 meters from goal, with the ball entering the corner of the net without any chance for Diogo Fernandes to save.
The same Yuri Araújo, at the 37th minute, came close to making it 2-0 with a powerful shot that went very close to the crossbar of FC Porto B’s goal.
Just before the 45th minute, a quick transition from the Viseu team, led on the left by Ott, was finished by Paulinho, who, in the area, anticipated Martim Cunha and beat Diogo Fernandes.
In the second half, the Viseu team dropped their defensive line and the pace of the game, anticipating a expected Porto reaction.
With half an hour to play, João Brandão made changes to the team, introducing João Teixeira, Rui Monteiro, Candé, and Dinis Rodrigues, and FC Porto B sought to take more control of the game, but the Viseu defense did not allow the opponents many opportunities to target Gril’s goal.
Candé, at the 73rd minute, capitalized on a wrong pass from André Almeida, broke free, but Gril prevented the goal.
At the 88th minute, Marinelli, in an individual play, went past the Porto defense and shot across the goal, very close to the post, and in the 90th minute, the Austrian Nussbaumer could have scored but for a close-range save from Diogo Fernandes against the Austrian striker’s shot.
In the 90+5 minute, Gabi, converting a penalty awarded for a handball by Aidara in the box, was denied by a save from Gril, who thus kept his goal clean.
In the standings, the Viseu team has climbed, conditionally, to the top of the II League with seven points, while FC Porto B remains with two points and is provisionally in 14th place.
