jpnn.comMAKASSAR – The Directorate General of Horticulture of the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) held a technical coordination meeting for the food emergency anticipation task force in Maros, South Sulawesi, Wednesday (24/7)

This event was held together with the Department of Agriculture, Food Crops, Horticulture and Plantations of South Sulawesi Province and the XIV Hasanuddin Military Command.

Secretary of the Directorate General of Horticulture as Acting Director General of Horticulture of the Ministry of Agriculture and Acting Head of the Food Emergency Anticipation Task Force, Muhammad Taufiq Ratule stated that this activity was carried out to follow up on the direction of the Minister of Agriculture to carry out consolidation and technical coordination to accelerate the achievement of the PAT target that has been determined.

Acting Director General of Horticulture said that from the total planting target of 109,412 ha, only 52,475 ha or around 49% has been achieved, so that even harder efforts with high spirits are needed, so that the planting target can reach 60% in July, 85% in August, and can reach 100% in September.

He explained that the pumps that had been received should be installed immediately within 1-2 days, so that the planting area could be increased, in addition to accelerating the CPCL assistance for ABT pumps that had been targeted.

The Minister’s Special Staff for the Acceleration of Agricultural Production Increase, Muhammad Arsyad, emphasized the importance of identifying problems in the field.

“Quantitative data is important, but what is more important is the harvest results, for example, even though the pumps are already there but there are still some that have not been used, this can be reallocated to achieve maximum results,” said Arsyad.

Arsyad also expects more intensive monitoring and assistance in the field, so that there are no differences in perception of the program.
