Accenture, McKinsey and BCG stop working in Russia

Consulting companies Accenture, McKinsey and BCG have become the next Western corporations that have decided to suspend their activities in Russia due to the military conflict in Ukraine. Accenture said on Thursday that it is completely closing its business in Russia and pulling out of the country. At the same time, the company is going to provide support for 2.3 thousand Russian employees – according to the Financial Times, we are talking about generous compensation for leaving.

A few days ago, McKinsey and BCG announced that they would no longer accept orders from any government agency in Russia. Now, McKinsey has said it will suspend work with other Russian clients after the completion of previously started projects. More than 400 consultants work in the Russian branch of the company. BCG on Thursday also announced the suspension of work with Russian clients. About 400 employees also work in BCG in Russia, they will continue to work in the company. According to FT sources, they will be given the opportunity to leave Russia, work on internal projects of the company or with clients from other countries.

None of the “big four” audit and consulting companies – Deloitte, EY, KPMG and PwC – has yet announced their departure from Russia. Only Deloitte said it was considering its presence in the country. According to the FT, citing sources, some other Big Four companies are also considering leaving Russia or spinning off their local subsidiaries.
