A vehicle hit a group of people this Friday in the christmas market of Magdeburgin northern Germany, leaving several seriously injured.
“An incident” at the Christmas market in which “a vehicle was involved” left “several people seriously injured,” reported a spokesperson for the emergency services.
The Bild newspaper reported 20 injuries and the regional media Volksstimme cited witnesses who saw several dead.

Some media outlets speak of several deaths and claim that it was an attack, but the authorities have not confirmed this.
The rescuers stated that several people were “seriously injured” as a result of the accident at the Christmas market.
The police of this city of about 250 thousand inhabitants, capital of the state of Saxony-Anhalt, reported on the social network
NTV television channel showed ambulances and fire trucks at the scene of the attack.
In addition, injured people were taken to hospitals and lifeguards installed aid devices for the victims.
Interior Minister Nancy Faeser recently called for vigilance during Christmas markets, but without mentioning specific threats.
Intelligence services warned that Christmas markets were an “ideologically appropriate target for people motivated by Islamism.”
In December 2016, Germany was the scene of a bloody attack on a Christmas market.
The attack, in the center of Berlin, left 12 dead at the time and was claimed by the jihadist group Islamic State.
Several Islamist attacks and planned attacks, involving foreign citizens, have shocked the country in recent months.
